Block Asphalt
steep hill dirth road; how to avoid sliding (metal grid or cement blocks)? where to find information?

My country house is up a steep dirth road that wahses out in heavy rains, what can I put into the road to avoid this and still be able to drive up. Not asphalt as it is way over price. Some metal grids or cement blocks with holes into them. Willing to do all the manual labor required with minimal machinery... Thanks!

I'm afraid that Mother Nature will prevail in most situations if she really wants to.. I would say..rather than invest in time and money with materials and machinery.....just take the money you would've spent and invest in a 4x4 vehicle. Seems to me that no matter what you insert into your road..severe weather will wash it out of there no matter what..so at least with a 4x4..you will still have a fighting chance.
