why does a tape measure have a mark at nine feet ,seven and three eighths inches?
I was hanging my dart board and one way to tell where to put your toe line is to find the distance from the center of the bull (5'8") and measure back 9"7 3/8" to the floor. This will be your throwing line. When I took my tape measure out there just happened to be a mark at that point. Does this point have something to do with a carpentry point?
"One little-known feature on most tape measures is a small black diamond that appears every 19.2 inches, known as the 'black truss' markings. This is used to mark out an equal five trusses per standard eight-foot sheet of building material. (8 feet, or 96 inches, divided by 5 is 19.2 inches.)"
There would be a mark at 115.2 in, which is pretty close to 115.375 in
